What is the live sound certificate?

Start your live sound education with the Live Sound certificate.  Fall of 2006 was the first semester that the new Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate was offered at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. We are so excited to be the first community college in Texas to offer this certificate. The Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate allows students to receive a level 1 certificate in sound reinforcement in a minimum of two semesters. Live Sound Lab

The live sound lab is a unique facility totally dedicated to live sound. In this room you will learn to fly speaker arrays, work on large format consoles, load trucks, repair speakers, set up AC distribution systems with a real 3 phase disconnect, assemble 3 and 4 way speaker systems, optimize PA's and much more. You will be using real world industry standard gear in realistic situations providing you with invaluable knowledge that will prepare you for a successful career in the audio industry.

FOH console

The FOH console in our performance venue the Tom T. Hall is an Avid VENUE Profile 48 channel digital mixing console. The FOH audio system is made up of Meyer Sound UPQ-2P's, Meyer Sound 700HP's and EAW UB52's (front fills). System management is provided by a Meyer Sound Galileo 408.

Yamaha M7CL Console

The monitor system is made up of a Yamaha M7CL digital mixing console and an Allen & Heath ML4000 console with BSS rocessing. All monitor enclosures are EAW SM200's that are powered by Crown Macro-tech amplifiers. Mics and di's are from Audix, Shure, AkG, Sennheiser, BSS, Klark Teknik, Coutryman and Radial Engineering.
